So I threw a copy of Windows 7 Beta on my Acer Aspire One...
And I liked it...
Seemed a bit snappier than even XP, nonetheless mention the failure known as Vista...
If Microsoft keeps things clean and stable while allowing for better customisation on installation, as well as creates a Windows 7 lite for Netbooks, I could see this taking off and making up for the joke known as Vista...
Of course the only way for M$ to truly make up for that debacle would be to allow users to exchange their Vista Discs/Licenses for Windows 7 licenses...
Back to the netbooks comment and a lite edition of Windows 7... I like the speed of the beta... It renewed my faith that eventually Microsoft Developers can clean up some of their mistakes made when trying to copy Mac OSX and speed improvements can be made... It also makes me wonder if they are purposefully slowing their other OSes down with the latest upgrades like SP3 for XP and the likes in order to make Windows 7 looks spunkier?
Of course remember it IS a BETA!!! Microsoft still has time to infuse this software with just the right mixture of bloatware and bugs to make it crawl like a caterpillar once out of beta...
The Windows 7 timetable is picking up and it should be here soon... soon enough for me to hold off on my new PC purchase until I see some decent speed specs on systems running this soon to be released OS.
Others out there use Windows 7 beta? have any comments? drop them below...
In the meantime I am enjoying using a decent cross between the best of XP and Vista all rolled up into a nice speedy little framework... Of course there is still a little too much VISTA in there for me to be truly happy... but who needs a working network anyways? Right???
