Just installed Utorrent and the ads they force on you after trying to trick you into installing toolbars and changing your homepage on their site.
Ads? these are cluttering messes, an eyesore for anyone who is used to Utorrents clean light client. Aside from installing an older 2.x copy of Utorrent
Here is how to get rid of the ads in Utorrent 3.2.x
uTorrent has recently introduced sponsored ads from version 3 of its torrent applications. What many people don't realize is that these ads are optional and can be disabled in the preferences, so just follow these few steps and you will be able to enjoy the latest version of uTorrent, without those ads!
Open the uTorrent application
Click 'Options' and then select 'Preferences' from the menu bar at the top of the page.
Select the 'Advanced' option from the list on the left hand side of the preferences window.
You will see a box with a long list of advanced options in the center of the window, from this list, scroll down and click to highlight 'gui.show_plus_upsell'.
Below the box, there is an option to change the value to either 'True' or 'False'. Select the 'False' value.
Scroll down the list even further, and click to highlight 'sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled' and again, select the 'False' value below the box.
Click 'OK' and then exit the uTorrent application. (You will have to right-click the uTorrent logo in the tray and select 'Exit' to close it fully.)
Open the uTorrent application and enjoy using uTorrent without those annoying ads!!!
Done!!!
While this is all one needs to do in order to have a clean interface in utorrent, there are some other changes mentioned online one might wish to make as well.
These include:
in Advanced set left_rail_offer to false.
Noted in utorrent 3.2.1 under Options one can uncheck the "Show Plus Information " setting to hide some of the ads.
