Help Desk v11
Written on 06/06/05 at 19:22:10 EST by psychlone
Back Again.  Ok, I'm still using WebApp Deluxe v2. Apache server on win98 system.

I've installed numerous mods and they work perfectly.  I installed Help Desk v11 and it works perfectly until you try to submit a ticket.  hd.client.cgi crashes with error 500.  I've checked all the file permissions, gone over all the shbangs, etc.. nearest I can gather is it's a "locking" issue.  Most of the scripts I've installed, (including WebAPP), have a seperate sub if Flock isn't implemented.  I don't know how to get around this.  I'm not even a novice at perl. I know just enough to want to learn more.

Any Suggestions?

I have the HelpDesk installed on here and am having the same problem...

I havent found the time to look into it, but I was playing with it in the idea of fixing it, updating it, and releasing a new working package.

I am going to take a look at the scripts again...

I assume your talking about the flock command, and not the lock/unlock bug thats in old mods...

Hopefully this can get figured out...

LOL I don't know which I'm taking about.  I know that I can't use the flock on my apache server, but it would work on IIS server.  At the same time I did go to and older version of WebApp so I may be experiencing the lock/unlock bug.

If that's the case it must be Mod specific because other scripts are working perfectly.

Like I said I'm not Novice yet, but I'm self-taught and learning quickly.  Sometime in the near future I'll be writing my own scripts/perl apps and not searching the net to find "just what I need".

I'm shutting my brain down for a few days.  It was screaming overload yesterday.

Hey Jack,

Have you figured anything out about this yet.

I just installed v.1.0 not knowing that it was the older version and it will not even let me log in after setting up my admin. It keeps telling me to"enter correct the user name and the password" but it only gives me a place to enter the password and no place for the username in the 1st place.

I've been reading your progress accross 2 web sites so far so I figured I'd stop here and just ask.

Well I guess that the script works off of what you are logged into WebAPP as your user name because I just changed my username to my members name which I am logged into WebAPP with and it worked.

Sorry for the confusion.

GOod to know its working...

the V12 you are using is an unreleased, unfinished beta upgrade of the script...

if you find any problems with it, let me know.

I will probably install it back up in here...  I used to have it on here for testing, but it got lost in an upgrade...

cool

Thanks for letting me try it out. I was sending tickets in every way I could find and it both sent them and in admin I was able to see them ok.

So far so good.
